National Song
(Iqbal’s Sare Jahan Se Achha...)
Best of all places in the world is our country India,
We are its nightingales and this is our garden,
If we happen to be abroad, our heart abides in motherland,
Think us to be there too where our heart remains,
That mountain, the highest one, neighbour of the heavens,
That is our sentry, that is our guardian,
Thousands of rivers play in its lap,
Which make our garden enviable to the heavens,
O the river Ganges! Dost thou remember those days?
When on thy banks landed our caravan,
Religion does not teach enmity between ourselves,
We are Indians and India is our motherland,
Greece and Egypt and Rome, all got erased off the world,
But till the moment our existence remains,
Thought provoking! our existence is not getting wiped out,
For centuries, cycle of times has been hostile to our nation,
Iqbal! Nobody is our confidant in the world,
Nobody knows our hidden pain.
